Gidófalva (Romanian: Ghidfalău) is a small village in Romania, in Covasna County, in the heart of the historic Székely Land. The village is situated in beautiful surroundings, easily accessible by road and rail, not far from the county seat, Sfântu Gheorghe. The village is served by National Road 11 (DN11), which facilitates travel between the surrounding towns and villages.
According to the latest data, Gidófalva has a population of 2,614, and the vast majority of the community consists of residents of Hungarian ethnicity, primarily Székelys. Most of the population speaks Hungarian, and the village’s cultural life is also strongly rooted in Székely-Hungarian traditions.
The history and development of the village are closely linked to the region’s agricultural and artisanal life. Locals have traditionally made their living from agriculture, forestry, and local industries, which still characterize the local economy today.
