Description

Valea Crișului (Hungarian: Sepsikőröspatak) is a commune located in Covasna County, in the historical region known as Szeklerland. The locality lies in a picturesque natural setting near the municipality of Sfântu Gheorghe, at the foothills of the Bodoc Mountains, in an area characterized by forested hills and agricultural land.


According to the most recent statistical data, the population of the commune is approximately 1,400 inhabitants. The overwhelming majority of the population is ethnic Hungarian (Szekler), alongside smaller communities of Romanians and Roma. From a religious perspective, Roman Catholics and Reformed Christians predominate, reflecting the historical traditions of the region.


Over time, the development of the locality has been influenced by its natural environment and traditional rural economy, based on agriculture, animal husbandry, and the exploitation of forest resources. The commune has educational and cultural institutions that contribute to preserving the local identity and the Szekler cultural heritage.


In recent years, infrastructure investments have been made in Valea Crișului, including road modernization, the expansion of public utilities, and the development of community spaces, with the aim of improving the quality of life of its residents.
